In May this year we were very excited to launch a two year partnership between PICA and Warnbro Community High School as part of our Spark_Lab education program. The theme for this collaboration is ‘Two Places, One Space’, uniting the locations of outer-metro Perth with the Perth Cultural Centre.
The highlight of the launch was the premiere of a music video, Words are the Weapon Online, written, filmed and performed by Warnbro students in a workshop with artists Curtis Taylor, Brian Lloyd (AKA Bryte) and Poppy van Oorde-Grainger. PICA staff members also gave a series of talks to students about careers in the arts and parents and community members attended the launch. Studio arts, dance and media students were also given the opportunity to showcase their work.
We look forward to seeing what creative and innovative things PICA and Warnbro High create together over the next two years! Special thanks to Rio Tinto for their support with this project and the entire Spark_Lab program.
