Amalia Pica has a longstanding interest in language, comprehension and misunderstanding. These interests led her to undertake a Gashaka Primate Project artistic residency in Nigeria in 2014 where she observed the lives and single tool use of chimpanzees.
Pica’s recent works explore the techniques, potentials and shortcomings of communication between different species.
