At PICA we recognise that we are situated within the unceded lands of the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation. We pay our respects and offer our gratitude to Elders past and present, and to those emerging leaders in the community. We acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the importance of their care and continued connection to culture, community and Country.

Always was, always will be.

We are closed today. Our exhibitions are always free.

Jacobus Capone

Jacobus Capone will be using the residency to create Nine prayers for Palomar; a series of nine gestures/prayers which will be executed through drawing, installation, painting, video and performance.
The nine gestures will constitute a single body of work and may be seen as a homage and translation of the nine subsections constructing Italo Calvino’s novel Palomar. In Palomar, the protagonist’s complex internalisation of all images around him questions the relationship between the self and the world. His attempt to quantify his own universe manifests as an act in trying to define and explain existence.
