Keep Everything

Chunky Move | 23 - 26 July, 2014

Contemporary dance meets explosive electronica in this apocalyptic love-letter to humanity.

Presented by Mobile States and PICA.

From the critically acclaimed, genre-defying Chunky Move comes Keep Everything, a fusion of dance and performance from one of Australia’s most innovative choreographers, Antony Hamilton. Combining forces with ARIA award-winning musicians, Kim Moyes and Julian Hamilton, Keep Everything splices choreography, electronica, spoken text and improvised movement to trace human evolution from primates to robots and back again.

Hallmarked by Chunky Move’s unpredictable, inventive style and showcasing three extraordinary Australian dancers, Keep Everything champions the absurd and sometimes vulgar nature of the spontaneous, by understanding that sometimes, it’s important to keep everything.

Chunky Move constantly seeks to redefine what is or what can be contemporary dance in an ever-evolving Australian culture. Their work is diverse in form and content encompassing productions for the stage, site specific, new-media and installation work. Chunky Move’s multi-tiered programming initiatives nurture and underpin a strong and vibrant dance culture in our home city of Melbourne and create critically acclaimed and popular productions of scale for presentations nationally and internationally.

Lead by internationally acclaimed Artistic Director, Anouk van Dijk, the Company’s annual program encompasses the presentation of a new work in Melbourne and national and international touring of repertoire. In addition Chunky Move has an extensive program of performer and choreographic development initiatives including our celebrated Next Move program.

Next Move is committed to nurturing the next generation of Australia’s leading dance makers. The program is designed to bridge the divide between young choreographers making small independent work and more established choreographers running their own organisations.

Keep Everything was the Company’s 2013 Next Move commission.
