At PICA we recognise that we are situated within the unceded lands of the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation. We pay our respects and offer our gratitude to Elders past and present, and to those emerging leaders in the community. We acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the importance of their care and continued connection to culture, community and Country.

Always was, always will be.

We are closed today. Our exhibitions are always free.

Join two special guest speakers as they provide their interpretations on PICA’s current exhibitions.
David Blair, Winthrop Professor, The University of Western Australia & Director of The Australian International Gravitational Research Centre, will respond to the use of light in Ross Manning’s practice, and will share his research into light and gravity in Einstein’s universe.
Nicholas Bannan, Associate Professor in Music Education, School of Music, The University of Western Australia, will highlight the tradition of throat-singing as demonstrated in Michele Theunissen’s videos, and will uncover this practice along with ideas centred on polyphonic sound.
These fascinating illustrated lectures will appeal to lovers of art, music and science, traversing artwork, theory and experience!
