Hatched: Workshops for Schools

Tuesday 24th May - Friday 1 July, 11am - 1pm & 2pm - 4pm

Taking place either at PICA or at your school the Hatched 2016 workshops for schools will see students engaging with the latest in contemporary art.

Toys for Tomorrow – Sculpture-making Workshops: Australian artist Olga Cironis will encourage students to experiment with a range of sculptural textiles techniques including stitching, tying, weaving and wrapping. Students will choose an everyday object to up-cycle as they explore themes including identity, domesticity and personal narrative.

Body pARTS – Sculpture-making Workshops: Visual artist Lex Randolph will lead an anatomical textiles workshop inspired by Laetitia Olivier-Gargano’s freaky, fleshy sculptures in Hatched 2016. Students will stitch, stuff, snip and stick your very own scientific specimen to take home in a jar.
