At PICA we recognise that we are situated within the unceded lands of the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation. We pay our respects and offer our gratitude to Elders past and present, and to those emerging leaders in the community. We acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the importance of their care and continued connection to culture, community and Country.

Always was, always will be.

We are closed today. Our exhibitions are always free.

AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE
Opera on the edge.
Three outstanding sopranos embroiled in three one-act comic operas. Sara Macliver (with Brendan Hanson), Fiona McAndrew and Elisa Wilson explore the frustrating world of marriage proposals, blind dates and chocolate cake in a bar, a gallery and a kitchen.
Lost & Found reinvent opera in their inimitable style up close and personal at three different locations in and around PICA. Drink in the bar, wander through the gallery and sample the cooking as the team that brought you the 5 star Fringe smash The Human Voice take you on an hilarious journey.
Sara Macliver plays Lucy in Menotti’s The Telephone, struggling in her busy life to find the time away from her mobile phone to listen to a marriage proposal; Fiona McAndrew takes us on a tender emotional journey as Rose, waiting on a blind date at an art gallery in Jake Heggie’s bittersweet gem of an opera At the Statue of Venus; Elisa Wilson plays out a passion for chocolate in a comic culinary extravaganza of an opera transcribed from a classic Julia Child television broadcast, Bon Appetit!
