Inflatable Jumping Basket

Thelma Judson | 13 - 15 December

The Giant Inflatable Jumping Basket is an interactive installation based on a hand-woven basket by Martu artist Thelma Judson, one of the exhibiting artists in string theory: Focus on contemporary Australian art, currently showing at PICA. Kids and adults alike can jump to their heart’s content inside this bouncy, playful structure, which also connects to the traditions of weaving within Aboriginal culture and art-making. Only at PICA for 3 days, make sure you get along to check it out!

The Giant Inflatable Jumping Basket was originally made for the exhibition, We don’t need a map: a Martu experience of the Western Desert, held at the Fremantle Arts Centre, with generous support from BHP Billiton.

string theory: Focus on contemporary Australian art is currently showing at PICA until 5 January 2014.
