PICA Salon Vernissage

Saturday 20 July

The PICA Salon Vernissage, which has gained a reputation for being one of Perth’s most sophisticated events, returns for its fourth consecutive year and will be bigger and better than ever!

Featuring a curated selection of 23 of today’s most collectable contemporary artists, PICA Salon 2013 is the best excuse to expand your art collection and wear that killer outfit. You’ll be rubbing shoulders with Perth’s most stylish culture fiends, devouring delicious food and specially designed cocktails while enjoying live entertainment from local music wunderkinds.

The Salon Auction, has been readapted this year in a new live format, certain to keep hearts racing! The auction contains three artworks, including one by Jeppe Hein, remembered for his stunning outdoor installation in 2010, Appearing Rooms, which is now a permanent fixture after the City of Perth commissioned a special version for Forrest Place! For PICA Salon, Jeppe has produced a unique neon work, referencing his current interests in the notion of happiness.

The second work by Queensland artist Ross Manning, who featured in the Volumes exhibition as part of this year’s Perth Festival, is a stunning kinetic work, the last available edition of its kind.

The third work is limited edition photograph by emerging South Australian artist CJ Taylor, who participated in the Hatched: National Graduate Show 2012. A fourth, special item has been provided by Dilettante and is a garment designed by Vivienne Westwood. This can be viewed on the night and is sure to appeal to lovers of fashion!
