Science, Spirit and Story | Shari Frilot and Lynette Wallworth in conversation.

Sat 4 Mar, 2pm - 3pm, FREE EVENT

The creator of Collisions, artist Lynette Wallworth, will be in conversation with Shari Frilot from Sundance Institute. They will discuss their long standing mutual interest in the possibilities of new technologies for connection and immersion. Their conversation will focus their history, their approach to emerging technologies and the capacity to reach beyond what exists to what could be.

Shari Frilot is the Chief Curator of the New Frontier program at Sundance Institute, which seeks to identify and foster independent artists working at the convergence of film, art, media, live performance, music and technology. Shari is also a Senior Programmer at the Sundance Film Festival.

Lynette Wallworth is an acclaimed Australian artist and director. Her work uses immersive environments, interactive technologies with gestural interfaces and narrative long form film to engage with viewers. The environments often rely on activation by the participant/viewer. In 2016, Wallworth was awarded a UNESCO City of Film Award and the Byron Kennedy Award for Innovation and Excellence in 2016.

Collisions received its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival in 2016 and is the result of Sundance New Frontier Institute’s first Virtual Reality residency in partnership with Palo Alto VR company Jaunt VR.
