Zora Kreuzer

Artist in Residence | 10 March - 6 April

Zora Kreuzer uses colour and light to explore architectural spaces. Particularly fascinated with neon colours, Zora seeks out the use of neon in man-made environments including; fashion, street-life, advertising and club culture, as well as within naturally occurring phenomenon such as a rainbow or sunset. In her new work, Zora uses fluorescent light tubing and paintings to showcase a spectrum of colour and activate surfaces.

Zora credits her love for travel as a major influence on the themes in her artwork. During the past year, she travelled to America, Taiwan, Switzerland, Austria and Italy, and now to Australia for her PICA residency. While travelling she observed the differences in urban culture and use of public space, which mirrors her interest in colour, shape, urban culture and architecture.

During her PICA residency Zora will use the urban imagery collected during her recent travels to create a new body of work. She also intends to create a specific WA colour palette from colours found in the natural and urban environments here.
