PICA opens its final exhibitions of 2026 with Cafe coming soon, a major mid-career survey exhibition by Western Australian artist Shannon Lyons.

To celebrate the opening of the exhibition, join PICA curator Georgia Hayward in conversation with Shannon Lyons for a special artist talk. Together, they will explore the ideas, processes and experiences that have shaped the exhibition, discussing key works from across Lyons’ practice and reflect on the evolution of her approach over the past 20 years. 

Presented in PICA’s West End Gallery, the exhibition brings together new commissions alongside re-staged works spanning two decades of Lyons’ site-responsive practice. Through large-scale sculptural installations, Cafe coming soon explores the materiality of built environments and their relationship to social connection, service, hospitality and exchange.
