The Hatched: Healthway National Graduate Show 2000 presented work by 65 artists from 17 University Art Schools from every state and territory in Australia.

The exhibition focused on four broad areas: Multimedia/installation: including computer generated work, electronic media, digital imaging, interactive media, installation and time based art; Design: including graphic design, industrial and product design; Fine Art & Objects: incorporating painting, sculpture, print-making, ceramics and glass, jewellery and metal and Film & Video in a range of formats.

The 2000 Hatched Symposium included presentations by Heads of Art Schools: Associate Professor Su Baker, from the VCA, Professor Noel Frankham from the South Australian School of Art and Professor Ian Howard from the College of Fine Arts at the University of NSW, along with Aroona Murphy from the Canberra School of Art, Associate Professor Ted Snell from the John Curtin Gallery and Paul Zika from the Plimsoll Gallery, University of Tasmania. Deborah Clarke, Curator at the National Gallery of Australia, John Barrett-Lennard, freelance writer and curator and art historian, Dr Ian McLean from the University of Western Australia.

Hatched: Healthway National Graduate Show & Symposium ’00 was the result of the hard work and commitment of an enormous number of people. PICA wishes to particularly thank the major sponsor, Healthway, the Western Australian Health Promotion Fund and the Family Planning Association.
