A wide range of work by 66 art graduates, representing 17 university art schools from every Australian state and territory, converged in Perth for this annual project.

Hatched took audiences into a new world of experience, generating opportunities to engage the creative and intellectual traditions, contemporary practices and make fresh responses to living in this country and this region at this time.

The Hatched exhibition was determined by the preoccupations and diversity of media employed by these graduated artists, and encompasses; Multimedia and installation: including computer generated work, electronic media, digital imaging, interactive media, installation and time based art; design: including graphic design, industrial and product design; fine art: incorporating painting, sculpture, print-making, ceramics and glass, jewellery and metal, and film and video in a range of formats.

There is a celebratory aspect to Hatched, which showcases the innovative, the expressive and the speculative, in tandem with practical, technical and critical skills.
