Calling all plant lovers!
If you’ve developed a strong relationship with plants over the last year, Performance Space (Sydney), West Kowloon Cultural District (Hong Kong), and PICA invite you and your plants to participate in a social choreographic process as part of Hundreds + Thousands (Multi-City), a performance work by Daniel Kok (Singapore) and Luke George (Naarm-Melbourne).
Hundreds + Thousands (Multi-City) brings together 100 ‘plantitas’ and many more plants in 3 different cities. Over the duration of one year, this hybrid community will co- create and perform for one another.
Hundreds + Thousands (Multi-City) is a small art movement enlisting the participation of plants as collaborators, mediators and audience. Through this online workshop series you will join artists Luke George and Daniel Kok to devise a series of collaborations, performances and happenings with your own chosen plant companions. Joining fellow “plantitas” from Sydney, Perth and Hong Kong, you and your plants will build this movement from the ground up, from the comfort of your own home.
Relating with plants from the basis of what they know, Hundreds + Thousands (Multi-City) rearranges the experience of the visual, the sensual and the sensible. The Germination workshops will culminate in a digital exhibition – Virtual Nursery – taking place during the 2021 Liveworks Festival of Experimental Art. A ticket to Germination also includes access to further public activities in the Hundreds + Thousands series in 2022.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Daniel Kok | Pronouns: he/him

Daniel Kok has a BA in Fine Art & Critical Theory (Goldsmiths College, London, 2001), an MA in Solo/Dance/Authorship (HZT, Berlin, 2012) and has studied Advanced Performance and Scenography Studies (APASS, Brussels, 2014). His performances have been presented across Asia, Europe, Australia and North America, notably in the Venice Biennale, Maxim Gorki Theater (Berlin), AsiaTOPA (Melbourne) and Festival/Tokyo. As artistic director of Dance Nucleus (Singapore), he focuses on building capacities for interdisciplinary praxis and trans-local partnerships in Asia and Australia. He curates the annual da:ns Lab at the Esplanade (Singapore) and is a core group member of the Asia Network for Dance (AND+)
Luke George | Prounouns: he/him

Luke George (Iutruwita-Tasmania, 1978), creates choreographic and visual works that employ daring and at times, unorthodox methods, to explore new intimacies and connections between artist and audience. Luke’s artistic practice is informed by queer politics, whereby people are neither singular nor isolated; bodies of difference can intersect, practice mutual listening, take responsibility for themselves and one another.
Based in Naarm (Melbourne), Luke creates, performs and collaborates with artists and the public across Australia, Asia, Europe and North America. A highly awarded and commissioned artist, Luke was a 2019 recipient of an Australia Council for the Arts Fellowship and in 2020, appointed Artistic Associate of Temperance Hall.
