Quick Response Artist-in-Residence

The Citizen Wellbeing Scientist project is an innovative, participatory research initiative exploring everyday self-care practices. During her residency, Narelle Lemon will experiment with immersive installation techniques, incorporating projection mapping and interactive soundscapes to create a multi-sensory experience that allows audiences to explore and reflect on diverse self-care practices.

About the artist

Dr Narelle Lemon is an interdisciplinary arts-based researcher and professor at Edith Cowan University in Boorloo (Perth). Her work integrates arts, education and positive psychology. Through poetry, craft, drawing, audio and documentary photography, she explores everyday self-care practices, creating visual archives that foster community learning. Her pioneering project, Citizen Wellbeing Scientist, invites participatory documentation of self-care, shifting from individual to relational understanding. Rooted in multimodal approaches, her work addresses significant gaps in well-being literacy while making it culturally responsive. Beyond academia, she extends her impact through podcasting and coaching at Explore & Create Co, investigating how communities can flourish amid contemporary challenges.
