At PICA we recognise that we are situated within the unceded lands of the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation. We pay our respects and offer our gratitude to Elders past and present, and to those emerging leaders in the community. We acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the importance of their care and continued connection to culture, community and Country.

Always was, always will be.

We are closed today. Our exhibitions are always free.

Occam – The Music of Eliane Radigue

Occam - The Music of Eliane Radigue

MEDITATIVE NEW MUSIC SOUNDSCAPES

WA-based experimentors of sound, Decibel, will undertake a two-week residency with composer and clarinettist Carol Robinson (USA/FR) to develop a new work in the Occam Ocean series by Eliane Radigue (FR). This new work, Hexa II, has been commissioned by Decibel, written collaboratively by Radigue and Robinson, and will be developed and premiered on site in PICA’s acoustically cavernous Central Gallery.

The Occam concert will also feature two other pieces by Radigue, all three an exploration of the interactions between sound, instrument, musician and acoustics. This will be a vastly different Decibel experience as expressive music made of minute and surprising pulsations fills the gallery and reaches into the listener’s psyche.
