At PICA we recognise that we are situated within the unceded lands of the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation. We pay our respects and offer our gratitude to Elders past and present, and to those emerging leaders in the community. We acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the importance of their care and continued connection to culture, community and Country.
Always was, always will be.
Galleries are open today, 10am–5pm. Our exhibitions are always free.
Thu Van Tran
Perth-Paris Artist-in-Residence Exchange
During her residency at PICA, Thu Van Tran will explore the importance of fire and survival from a spiritual perspective. Utilising ceramics, earth and plants, materials that undergo transformative processes through fire, she will explore how destruction by consumption can give birth to new forms, new meanings. By incorporating locally sourced earth into her creations, Thu Van Tran will highlight the unique significance of fire in the Australian landscape, inviting reflection on the cycles of creation and renewal.
