At PICA we recognise that we are situated within the unceded lands of the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation. We pay our respects and offer our gratitude to Elders past and present, and to those emerging leaders in the community. We acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the importance of their care and continued connection to culture, community and Country.

Always was, always will be.

Galleries are open today, 10am–5pm. Our exhibitions are always free.

XR Hackathon Showcase

XR Hackathon Showcase

PICA presents six new locally developed works by Perth-based artists. Created over a four day Hackathon event as part of PICA’s partnership with Frame Labs and Immerse Australia. These works present the exciting visions of artists working with AR, VR and 360 video for the first time. The new works explore a range of ideas, from the native flora of the Southwest and experiments with shadows to the religious and spiritual power of talismans.

Borne out of a desire to provide artists, performers and other creatives with the technology and resources to explore XR, the projects developed throughout the Hackathon will be presented at PICA as part of the XR:WA Festival, running 15–18 September.

Join us Saturday 17 September, to hear from a selection of the artists from PICA’s Hackathon program at our XR Hackathon Works in Progress – Artist Talks.
