We pay our respects and offer our gratitude to Elders past and present, and to those emerging leaders in the community. We acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the importance of their care and continued connection to culture, community and Country.

Yen Yen Ho

Taipei-Perth Artist-in-Residence Exchange

As both an artist and archaeology assistant, Yen Yen Ho’s residency at PICA will focus on exploring the relationship between linguistic systems across Taiwan, Southeast Asia and Australia. By examining archaeological pottery collections as evidence of shared histories, she seeks to uncover hidden cultural connections. Through her research, Ho aims to understand how carefully constructed systems of knowledge shape the way we perceive and interpret the world.

About the artist

Yen Yen Ho lives in Taipei, Taiwan. Her works are often inspired by personal experience through observation of the present. With a background in science, specifically astronomy and geography, she presents the metaphorical state of mind through works. Ho works with installation, video, sculpture and painting. Known for creating sites with a narrative atmosphere through memories and emotions evoked by objects, she aims to capture the connections and breaks between reality and fiction by reconstructing and examining spatial-temporal experiences. Ho’s works have been exhibited at the Taipei Fine Art Museum, Jeju 4.3 Peace Park Memorial Hall, Keelung Museum of Art and Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts. In 2023 she completed a residency in Seoul Art Space, Geumcheon, Korea.
