At PICA we recognise that we are situated within the unceded lands of the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation. We pay our respects and offer our gratitude to Elders past and present, and to those emerging leaders in the community. We acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the importance of their care and continued connection to culture, community and Country.

Always was, always will be.

We are closed today. Our exhibitions are always free.

Janet Carter

Gender, sexuality, desire and embodied identity- these are some of the things that Janet Carter’s practice seeks to explore. But for the first time for this accomplished Perth artist, Janet plans to use her time in the PICA studio to explore self portraiture as an extension of these ideas. After working with performance, multimedia and non-traditional materials for several years, this project will see Janet return to the fundamental processes of drawing and sculpting.
