Curated with Gemma Weston, Curator, Cruthers Collection of Women’s Art (CCWA)
Trying to Find Comfort in An Uncomfortable Chair offers an opportunity to engage with Australia’s only public collection of women’s art in a new and exciting context, opening the archives and climate-controlled storerooms of Australian art history to memory, feeling and the logic of dreams.
Invited to consider the founding history of this collection, Agathe Gothe-Snape identifies moments in which personal histories become enmeshed with professional practice, presenting clusters of works and objects that together form narratives that bear the weight and vision of this pioneering collection.
With works from the Cruthers Collection of Women’s Art at The University of Western Australia by; Janet Dawson, Helen Eager, Rosalie Gascoigne, Agatha Gothe-Snape, Elizabeth Newman, Ann Newmarch, Michelle Nikou, Miriam Stannage.
Agatha Gothe-Snape is represented by The Commercial, Sydney.
