Both the Singapore and Taiwan residencies will run for eight weeks from 24 April – 18 June 2023.

Grey Projects (est. 2008) is a library, a residency apartment, a studio, and two galleries. Out of these spaces, they generate curatorial and exchange activities. This usually means they make books, exhibitions, talks, residencies, reading groups, aand workshops. They are interested in new design practices, writing, curatorial research, and art propositions. They can be found in Tiong Bahru, Singapore’s oldest public housing estate. 

Each residency period runs for a minimum of four weeks. They are looking to support artists, curators, critics, and other participants in the visual arts, but applicants from other fields (such as dance, literature, and design) are also welcome.

Staff support

As presentation opportunities and activities such as workshops and artist talks are independently determined with each artist, residency offers do not guarantee the culmination of an exhibition or any similar event.

AIR Taipei is the umbrella organization overseeing two very different and unique artists-in-residence sites around the city. The Taipei Artist Village was established in 2001 by the Department of Taipei Cultural Affairs and has been developing relationships linking the artists exchange program with cities throughout the world. Treasure Hill Artist Village, a historical architectural community, was launched in 2010. Both sites complement each other through diverse landscape, scale and location yet each site helps place the arts firmly in the cultural sights for a local and international audience.Located in central Taipei the Taipei Artist Village is a great spot for artists to explore the urban landscape and offers easy access to activities and institutions throughout the city; Treasure Hill is located in a special enclave in Taipei with its own history being part of the first wave of buildings in Taipei. It follows the idea of “paragenesis” creating dialogues between artists and the wider community providing the arts a social space for interacting and expressing ideas.
