Emma Hewitt

Artist in Residence | 27 October 08 - 18 January 09

During her residency Victorian artist Emma Hewitt will explore the multiple significances of fence lines and other boundary markers that crisscross the long open spaces of the Australian landscape. She will examine the poetics, symbolism and meaning of the fences we use to divide land and define and separate our lives. Her work points out the redundancy and incongruity of artificially dividing land and hints at the persistence of the natural world they divide.
