Hatched Tactile Tour | 12.15pm – 1pm
A free guided tour for visually impaired people to explore contemporary art through informed discussion, audio description and by touching selected objects and materials from the exhibition. This tactile tour is facilitated by DADAA, WA’s leading arts and health organisation that creates access to cultural activities for people with a disability or mental illness.

Hear from a selection of Hatched artists as they speak about
their art practice and exhibiting experience.
Artists:
Kim Ah Sam is a proud Kuku Yalanji and Kalkadoon woman. Her work incorporates handmade papermaking, print, and sculpture based on an exploration of cultural identity.
Anita Cummins’ work combines installation, sculpture, video, craft, and sound. Using repetitive methodologies as a tool for living with mental illness, she explores personal experiences of pleasure and suffering, locating the studio as a site for recovery and the processing of complex emotional states.
Louis Grant is an emerging glass artist whose practice focuses on the search for an authentic expression of the queer self. Focusing on methods of unbecoming, unmaking and undoing, Grant embraces the utopian possibilities of failure and imperfection as a method of resistance.
Focused on producing an acute awareness of the fragility of one’s body, Yvette James creates installations to channel embodied emotion. Exploring raw materials, James’ installations create unfamiliar spaces designed with powerful simplicity.
Then, Now & Next x Vault Issue 26 Launch | 2.30pm – 5.30pm
PICA and VAULT Magazine present Then, Now & Next, a professional development opportunity for emerging artists, performers, and other creative practitioners, followed by the official launch of VAULT Issue 26.
Facilitated by VAULT Editor Alison Kubler, the program will include a panel discussion and a workshop that will collaboratively discuss opportunities for artists who are recently graduated, at the beginning of their careers or seeking new pathways in their practice. Panellists include Kelly Fliedner, Amrita Hepi, Joshua Pether and Amy Perejuan-Capone and will each speak about their experience of shaping a career in the creative arts and the experiences they have had, including attending residencies, engaging with institutions, publishing about their practice, and collaborating with other artists. This panel and discussion will aim to practically assist participants to navigate these opportunities.
Following the panel discussion, participants will break into two separate groups for smaller discussions with the speakers. Participants can sign up for their preferred discussion group on the day.
