A work in development by Perth-based artist Janet Carter, Transmission is a place to explore queer desire and culture, under the banner of a fabulous town hall meeting. A counter-response to loss and the failure to transmit, with reference to the AIDS epidemic and the generational loss of the 80s and 90s, this work recognises the potential of each body to be a transmitter of knowledge and history. How do we transmit beyond the biological across generations and within chosen family structures? Come together for a night of stories, music and alternative acts of transmission that summon the queer future.
Transmission: Town Hall Meeting
Transmission is an exercise in community building and sharing history across generations. This meeting is an opportunity for queer folk to informally come together to talk about our shared pride, anger, joy, grief, shame and hopes. The conversations we have here will contribute to the Transmission Queer Party.
Transmission Installation
This is where community (including non-queer folks) can publicly connect with and contribute to the Transmission project. It will be an evolving installation of thoughts, ideas, histories and stories.
