PICA’s annual Hatched: National Graduate Show is the most prestigious and comprehensive survey of new emerging artists in Australia today and this year’s show brought together work by 64 of the country’s finest graduates from 21 tertiary art schools.
Hatched 2007 presented an array of works, featuring painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, installation, textiles, jewellery, animation, sound, photography and video. The work by a new crop of Australian artists keen to talk about the world around them, about things like memory, perception, the environment, suburbia, isolation, the domestic and gender.
It has not only delighted and surprised audiences but also provided a unique and important opportunity for recent graduates from the nation’s leading art schools to exhibit their work alongside that of their peers from around Australia.
