The Western Australian premiere of an award winning Australian play

A BITTERSWEET PERSONAL ODYSSEY WITH A TWENTY FIRST CENTURY BITE.

Based on a true story, The Spook is an allegory of our times. Set in the 1960’s, but resonating with the current Australian political climate, a teenager is recruited into ASIO and to spy on the local Communist party – with hilarious and alarming results. 40 years ago – Menzies governed; the white Australia policy was still in place; and we were entering into a foreign war. We were paranoid about strange customs and ideologies that could threaten our comfortable way of life. So what’s changed?

Reeves’ play displays as astute understanding of how politics works at a micro-level in Australia. It is suspenseful, subversive and savagely funny.
