At PICA we recognise that we are situated within the unceded lands of the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation. We pay our respects and offer our gratitude to Elders past and present, and to those emerging leaders in the community. We acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the importance of their care and continued connection to culture, community and Country.

Always was, always will be.

Galleries are open today, 10am–5pm. Our exhibitions are always free.

Teachers, artists and arts educators are invited to join local filmmaker Poppy van Oorde-Grainger for a three hour stop-motion animation workshop. Inspired by Nathalie Djurberg’s animated films in The Secret Garden you will learn how to use iPad animation software to animate drawings, mixed media collage and 3D modelled characters.
Poppy will begin with a tour of the exhibition and then speak about her own multimedia art practice before introducing the basics of stop-motion animation. This inspiring workshop will leave you confident in both creating and teaching this classic form of animation.
