Now in its third edition, the Audible Edge festival features a rich program of performances, participatory workshops and discussions delivered by international sound art luminaries, emergent underground wonders, and brilliant local experimentalists. PICA is proud to be hosting the first night of Audible Edge in the PICA Performance Space on 27 January.
Within Audible Edge’s 2019 program, perspectives from improvised music, noise, free jazz, electronic music, radiophonic art, avant-garde rock, field recording, experimental composition and physical theatre will intersect in performances by long-standing ensembles, honed solo acts, and new improvised collaborations.
Audible Edge 2019 features the psychoacoustic minimalism of France Jobin, the fragmented electro-acoustics of duo Plant (Jim Denley & Éric Normand), subtle drones from Berlin Echtzeitmusik duo Superimpose, the intimacy of Laura Altman’s extended clarinet, and the austere beauty of Andy Butler’s harmonium playing. They will be joined by local artists Shoshana Rosenberg, Ryan Burge, Daisy Sanders, Original Past Life, Catherine Ashley, Kirsten Smith, Djuna Lee and many more across four more days of the festival, happening in Fremantle, Denmark and Albany.
