At PICA we recognise that we are situated within the unceded lands of the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation. We pay our respects and offer our gratitude to Elders past and present, and to those emerging leaders in the community. We acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the importance of their care and continued connection to culture, community and Country.

Always was, always will be.

We are open 10am–5pm. Our exhibitions are always free.

Exhibition Openings - Erin Coates & George Egerton-Warburton

Please join us as we celebrate the openings of Erin Coates’ KINESPHERE and George Egerton-Warburton’s Administration is Just Oulipian Poetry.
These two architecturally charged exhibitions will see PICA’s building restructured, cut up and radically re-imagined!
KINESPHERE is a grand scale installation inspired by the artist’s background in urban climbing and interest in architecture. Coates, a recipient of a Catalyst: Katherine Hannay Visual Arts Comission Grant, is creating a new landscape inside PICA, connecting the ground and first floors with a 7 metre high mountainous structure housing a micro-cinema and surrounded by wall drawings, a 3D film and an interactive climbing room.
Administration is just Oulipian Poetry is a significant solo exhibition by George Egerton-Warburton, a Western Australian born artist now based in Los Angeles. In an interconnected installation carved pieces of the gallery walls will be suspended from a sprawling mobile and the gallery will be filled with visual and olfactory artworks, collectively forming a sensorially charged, contemplative environment.
Come down in comfy shoes and your best pair of shorts and climb the gallery walls with us! Liquid chalk provided.
