HATCHED 2007

HATCHED 2007

PICA’s annual HATCHED National Graduate Show is the most prestigious and comprehensive survey of new emerging artists in Australia today and this year’s show brings together work by 64 of the country’s finest graduates from 21 tertiary art schools. HATCHED 07 presents us with a startling array of works and features painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, installation, textiles, jewellery, animation, sound, photography and video. The work is by a brand new crop of Australian artists keen to talk about the world around them, about things like memory, perception, the environment, suburbia, isolation, the domestic and even sex. The only exhibition of its type in Australia, HATCHED has been presented in Perth by PICA for the last sixteen years. It has not only delighted and surprised audiences but also provided a unique and important opportunity for recent graduates from the nation’s leading art schools to exhibit their work alongside that of their peers from around Australia.
