Hatched Artist Derek Sargent Receives 2016 Samstag Scholarship

Derek Sargent, a graduate from the South Australian School of Art and former Hatched artist (2014) is one of the two 2016 recipients of the coveted Samstag Scholarship. Derek is a sculpture and installation artist based in Adelaide. His multi-media practice includes moving image, sculpture forms, installation and photography. The Samstag Scholarship is a USD $45,000 scholarship designed to open up international opportunities for Australian artists with overseas study, with past recipients using this scholarship to take up fellowships or tertiary study in prestigious overseas universities such as Goldsmiths University and the University of the Arts in Berlin.
