During their PICA residency, Amit German will develop an interactive video installation exploring glitch as an embodied and relational process emerging through movement, feedback and participation.  

Combining live camera input, video synthesis and sound, the work will create a responsive audiovisual environment shaped by audience movement where real-time distortions and glitches become tools for transformation: a way of slipping through systems, finding new relations and moving without fixed instruction. 

The work creates space for audiences to drift, experiment, play and ‘get lost together’ inside unstable systems, exploring the liberatory potential of staying with complexity collectively rather than resolving or fixing it.

Throughout the residency, the artist plans to host a series of small, informal sessions where audiences can experiment with live camera systems, play with video synthesisers and contribute feedback to the developing work.

Building on an ongoing practice investigating glitch, embodiment and trans and neurodivergent experience, the project extends research developed through Amit German’s upcoming solo exhibition at Firstdraft, Sydney and audiovisual performance development at PACT Centre for Emerging Artists, Sydney.
