At PICA we recognise that we are situated within the unceded lands of the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation. We pay our respects and offer our gratitude to Elders past and present, and to those emerging leaders in the community. We acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the importance of their care and continued connection to culture, community and Country.

Always was, always will be.

We are open 10am–5pm. Our exhibitions are always free.

Forget-Me-Not Memory Cafe

Forget-Me-Not Memory Cafe

People living with memory loss and their support networks are warmly invited to PICA for a special community gathering hosted by Forget-Me-Not Dementia Support. Join us in the PICA Foyer for a ‘Memory Cafe,’ where you can enjoy morning tea and participate in tactile creative activities designed to engage the senses and spark joyful connections.

Share a morning with others on a similar journey in a positive and supportive social atmosphere. Throughout your visit, you’ll have the chance to learn about PICA’s iconic building, originally constructed as a Government School in 1896, and explore our current exhibition, Hatched: National Graduate Show 2024, which showcases the talent of emerging artists across the nation.

No registration is required – please drop in and out as you wish.

We hope to see you for a morning filled with creativity, conversation, and community.

About the organisation

Forget-Me-Not is a volunteer-run registered association that organises community gatherings at local cafes across WA. These ‘Memory Cafes’ serve as open support groups for individuals diagnosed with dementia or experiencing memory loss, along with their carers, partners and families. Held once a month for two hours and overseen by local Forget-me-not Champions, these cafes create a welcoming environment where participants can socialise freely, without fear of embarrassment or judgment, while connecting with others on a similar journey.
