Jason Haji-Ali

Quick Response Residency

Quick Response Residency

During his Quick Response residency at PICA, Jason Haji-Ali will develop a photography-led project exploring ideas of home, identity and intergenerational connection to Country.  

Haji-Ali will use the residency to develop material gathered during recent travels with family to his ancestral Country south of Broome into an immersive new work incorporating photography, installation and sound. Expanding on themes explored in his earlier work Through Her Eyes (2022), the project uses photography, storytelling and sound to reflect on relationships between identity, belonging and inherited histories. 

About the artist

Yawuru man Jason Haji-Ali is a multidisciplinary artist from the Kimberley, now living and creating on Whadjuk Noongar boodjar in Boorloo/Perth. Expressing himself through video, sound, photography and other digital mediums, Jason’s work is often reflective, exploring concepts of identity, community and Country and their interconnected relationship.
