Momentum: A Mid-Career Lab for Connection and Experimentation

Momentum: A Mid-Career Lab for Connection and Experimentation

Momentum is an artistic laboratory for Boorloo-based mid-career and established artists to come together and experiment with their practice and current projects. Participants in the lab will engage in meaningful dialogue with fellow artists, helping to discover and expand the possibilities of an existing work while supporting one another collectively. As an extension of pvi collective’s KISS CLUB – a platform where artists from various live disciplines can test fresh ideas – Momentum encourages participants to become provocateurs, inspiring each other to challenge artistic boundaries.

Open to artists from all disciplines and research interests, the lab is designed to be adaptive, responsive and flexible to accommodate participants’ needs. Momentum is committed to disability, access, cultural safety and inclusion, ensuring support for artists with diverse experiences and access requirements.

Expressions of interest opening soon.

About the Artists

pvi collective is based in Boorloo (Perth), Western Australia. pvi is renowned for developing innovative, high-calibre, socially engaged artworks that seek to empower audiences to step out of their comfort zones. Signature works such as deviator, blackmarket and tiny revolutions call on audiences to get involved and imagine progressive change together, through playful actions on the streets and creative interventions that pack a societal punch. pvi believe in staying with the trouble; scrutinising it, investing in it and pulling it into focus at times when it may be easier to leave it concealed.

Over the past two decades, pvi has produced an eclectic body of work, grounded in critical rigour, informed by collaborative research and always foregrounding the experience of the audience. Performances and public interventions have included: bus tours, training videos, radio broadcasts, sticker campaigns, pub quizzes, think and do tanks, privacy services, tug-of-war contests, live-action board games, mock awards, community policing initiatives, environmental watchdogs and locative mobile media games.
