At PICA we recognise that we are situated within the unceded lands of the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation. We pay our respects and offer our gratitude to Elders past and present, and to those emerging leaders in the community. We acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the importance of their care and continued connection to culture, community and Country.

Always was, always will be.

Galleries are open today, 10am–5pm. Our exhibitions are always free.

School Holiday Workshops: Through the Looking Glass

School Holiday Workshops: Through the Looking Glass

Inspired by PICA’s magical exhibition The Secret Garden young artists are invited to create their own animated films!
In this special one-day workshop you will learn how to animate your dreams using iPads and mixed media including collage, drawing and 3D modeling. After a tour of the exhibition filmmaker/visual artists Ned Reilly and Poppy van Oorde-Grainger will take you through the basics of stop-motion animation using simple iPad software.
Ned Reilly is a young artist working with video, sculpture, painting and performance. Poppy van Oorde-Grainger is a filmmaker and an experienced community arts facilitator who has worked with children and young people across Australia and the UK since 2002, helping them to tell their stories through art making.
