During her Quick Response Residency at PICA, Sherry Quiambao will begin the next stage of development for her long-term project Adrift. The project draws on research undertaken during her 2025 BREEZE residency in Makassar, Indonesia, where she documented floating houses on Lake Tempe and became interested in how water shapes forms of dwelling, movement and connection across the region.

Over the two week residency, Quiambao will focus on movement research in collaboration with Boorloo-based performer Keana Mislang, alongside early sculptural and spatial development for the project. These investigations will begin to shape the visual and conceptual language of Adrift, which will continue to evolve through sculpture, video and installation.
