At PICA we recognise that we are situated within the unceded lands of the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation. We pay our respects and offer our gratitude to Elders past and present, and to those emerging leaders in the community. We acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the importance of their care and continued connection to culture, community and Country.

Always was, always will be.

Galleries are open today, 10am–5pm. Our exhibitions are always free.

Show Character

Show Character

To ‘show character’ or to be a ‘person of character’ is perhaps meaningless in a world where the thoughts and actions of any individual can be readily uploaded and disseminated at` any given moment. One character becomes as ubiquitous as the next.

Guest Curator Jonah Dames has brought together a group of Australian artists at various points in their careers, whose works in the show try to describe the fleeting idea of character. The result is a diverse array of drawings, prints, sculptures, installation and video works that will be shown in PICA’s West End Gallery.
