Hatched Interstate Artist-in-Residence

Presented as part of Hatched: National Graduate Show 2026, the Hatched artist-in-residence program offers a residency to one WA-based and one interstate artist in the Hatched exhibition. This opportunity provides time, space and a new context to develop their practice, embark on new projects and be a part of PICA’s creative community.   

During their time at PICA, Sydney will work towards low-quality moving image and photographic documentation, pushing their practice into new mediums. Exploring a new method of community collaboration working with local artist and performer Jacinta Larcombe to choreograph public performances reckoning with the evolving material conditions of compulsory visibility.

About the artist

Sydney Jarrett is a multi-disciplinary artist working on Gadigal land. His sculptural and performance-based practice explores materialities of public space, investigating relationships with authority, regulation and compliance. He completed his Honours in Fine Arts at UNSW Art and Design in 2025.
