During his residency with Treasure Hill Artist Village in Taipei, Tom Campbell will develop his project 
to learn the Sumazau. The Sumazau is a traditional Kadazan (First Nations Malaysian) dance, performed in a variety of ceremonial and celebratory contexts. Tom, who has Kadazan heritage through his matrilineal line, will spend his time in Taiwan researching and connecting with local institutions and communities, particularly around shared histories of movement and migration. Tom will develop a body of work that spans socially-engaged practice, sound, textiles and poetry.
