Katherine Wilkinson will be in conversation with artists Shanti Gelmi, Natalie Tso and Joshua Ophel.
Shanti Gelmi’s residency at PICA sees the artist build on the metaphor of the shadow as a hidden influential force, drawing attention to the shadows cast by her sculptural installations by concentrating on the absence of the material removed.
Canberra-based artist Joshua Ophel’s practice experiments with dialogue and reflexive interview in Auslan to explore the politics of access and representation. Joshua is using his residency to extend these conversations to new audiences here in Perth.
Natalie Tso creates sculptures, installations and performances through bodily memories as a means to process and ultimately survive trauma. During her residency, she will work towards developing a performance. She will focus on community-based performances as an evolving form of political protest to create solidarity for the Hong Kong diaspora in Australia post National Security Law.
