At PICA we recognise that we are situated within the unceded lands of the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation. We pay our respects and offer our gratitude to Elders past and present, and to those emerging leaders in the community. We acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the importance of their care and continued connection to culture, community and Country.

Always was, always will be.

Galleries are open today, 10am–5pm. Our exhibitions are always free.

CURATOR FORUM | What To Do When Things Get Rough

Join AGWA Curator of Contemporary Design and International Art, Robert Cook, Curator of the Cruther’s Collection of Women’s Art at the University of Western Australia, Gemma Weston, and PICA Acting Curator Andrew Varano as they each provide their own readings of Justene William’s visually expansive and referentially rich exhibition The Curtain Breathed Deeply.

Working against the idea of singular and definitive interpretations, each speaker will give their own varied takes on the exhibition, traversing through art history, feminism, popular culture and childhood memory as well as the body and materials, patterns and sensation.
