At PICA we recognise that we are situated within the unceded lands of the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation. We pay our respects and offer our gratitude to Elders past and present, and to those emerging leaders in the community. We acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the importance of their care and continued connection to culture, community and Country.

Always was, always will be.

Galleries are open today, 10am–5pm. Our exhibitions are always free.

Justene Williams Talk | 2pm, Main Gallery
Sydney-based artist Justene Williams joins Artspace Deputy Director Michelle Newton as they discuss her 20 year practice, and how personal experience and cultural crazes underlie The Curtain Breathed Deeply. This immersive collection of work transforms the PICA ground floor galleries into a determinedly chaotic and interrelated sequence of installations using found objects and waste materials.

Gordon Bennett Talk | 3pm, West End Gallery
Paper is the site where imagery, words, and ideas often found their first expression before being combined into the large-scale conceptual paintings for which Gordon Bennett is known. Join Brisbane’s Institute of Modern Art (IMA) Executive Director and Gordon Bennett: Be Polite Curator, Johan Lundh, as he reveals one of Australia’s most acclaimed contemporary artist’s methods and ambitions from the early 1990s through to the early 2000s.
