At PICA we recognise that we are situated within the unceded lands of the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation. We pay our respects and offer our gratitude to Elders past and present, and to those emerging leaders in the community. We acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the importance of their care and continued connection to culture, community and Country.

Always was, always will be.

We are open 10am–5pm. Our exhibitions are always free.

Moses Kington-Walberg

Quick Response Artist-in-Residence

Quick Response Artist-in-Residence

Moses Mohammed Kington-Walberg is a sound artist interested in the unique and complex acoustics of Australian landscapes. During his residency at PICA, Moses will develop an installation combining field recordings collected from around Australia, lamp shadows, colour projections and electroacoustic composition. In doing so, he will craft an immersive space where the sounds and light shift in response to audiences.

Moses Kington-Walberg is an early career composer from the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia (Ballardong, Yued and Whadjuk Noongar country). His current work explores ideas of interpretive autonomy, bioacoustics and ‘the ordinary’, seeking to quietly tackle mechanistic protocols in traditional classical settings. Moses’ compositions are experimental, texturally driven and dynamic. Underpinned by playful, highly collaborative performance philosophies. Moses received a Bachelor of Music (Hons.) from the University of Melbourne (under Elliott Gyger) and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Western Australia (under James Ledger). He has also participated in various training programs including those hosted by the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, the Australian Youth Orchestra and the Australian Art Orchestra. Moses has composed for a number of ensembles and soloists across Australia, and has been recognised with awards including the Dorothy Ellen Ransom Prize in Musical Composition, the WA Symphony Orchestra Bendat Scholarship and the Ellinor Gertrude Harris Bequest.
